COVID-19 Policy and Procedure

VANCOUVER OUTDOORS SOCIETY COVID-19 POLICY AND PROCEDURE UPDATE 03.20.2023

1. All Vancouver Outdoors Society (VOS) operations shall be in accordance and compliance with the Province of British Columbia, Provincial Health Officer and Public Health Act requirements, restrictions and regulations regarding COVID-19. This includes all Provincial and Regional Public Health Officer Orders.

2. Participants taking part in VOS programming will be required to be double vaccinated and, as required, Proof of Vaccination to VOS maybe needed. Exceptions will be made on a case-by-case evaluation by VOS and in keeping with the ORDER OF THE BRITISH COLUMBIA PROVINCIAL HEALTH OFFICER.

3. VOS staff leading programs will be triple vaccinated.

4. In the morning, during all programs, VOS staff will conduct a COVID-19 symptom check assessment of each participant.

5. During VOS outdoor and indoor activities, participants will not be required to wear a face mask and there will be no physical distancing.

6. VOS will provide all transportation by VOS vehicles and drivers for VOS programs. When ever possible, VOS participants will be isolated from all public and non-VOS-operated vehicles and passengers.

7. For overnight accommodations, arrangements will be made to ensure there is exclusive accommodations used only by VOS participants.

8. VOS staff will carry sanitizing agents and additional face masks with them at all times and will monitor and direct participants to use these protective measures as required. Participants a free to use face masks at any time and my ask VOS staff to supply them with a mask.

9. VOS staff will include in their first aid kit a thermometer and will conduct and record COVID-19 assessments and temperature checks as and when fever symptoms are reported.

10.Participants reporting and displaying COVID-19 symptoms will be isolated from all other participants and COVID-19 testing will be carried out. Those registering a positive COVID-19 test will be in contact with their parents to determine the best and preferred course of medical action to take.

11.All participants will be taught and monitored for;

  • not sharing water bottles, food, drinks and personal belongings between others 
  • covering a cough or sneeze with a elbow 
  • proper technique for hand washing and use of hand sanitizer and when to do so 
  • proper safe food handling, preparation, cooking, serving, and cleaning of cooking and dining utensils 
  • what are the symptoms of COVID -19, who and when to report them to 
  • how to clean and sanitize sleeping, living and washroom spaces
